BIO
Alina Zamanova (b. 1993, Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine) is a visual artist based in Kyiv. Her practice emerges from the lived experience of war and its impact on individuals, communities, and the environment. Working primarily with painting and sculpture, Zamanova documents the shifting realities of life under invasion —tracing how violence disrupts memory and routines, reshapes public and private space, and leaves lasting marks on both people and the land.
An artist is engaging with the land as a kind of archive—a material witness that absorbs and reflects human violence. The landscape is an active witness—a site where memory, absence, and history converge. She is particularly interested in how the earth holds evidence of destruction, and how the social fabric is altered in response. Her work moves between observation and reflection, drawing attention to the ways in which collective trauma becomes embedded in the structures of everyday life.
Living and working in a country under full-scale invasion, Zamanova’s artistic practice has become a direct response to the war in Ukraine. Her work emerges naturally from this shared reality, channeling attention toward the ongoing genocide.
